Interested in doing a bike rally at Lithia Park in Ashland Sunday nights? I’ve determined a course starting at the bottom of Lithia park, riding up Winburn way to Granite St, and rendezvousing at the top of Ashland Creek Dr, and then bombing back down. I tested this course Sunday May 18th and 25th, and had a pretty decent ride up and a good descent down. The ride up takes 18 - 20 minutes, and down takes a little under 10.
If interested contact me, or meet at the park around 9:15 -9:30 pm Sundays. Meet near the foot bridge that leads to the playground (about half way up the parking lot). Ride up will commence at 10:00 pm and the bomb down will be at 10:30.
Personally, I ride a mini bike, traditional to bombing. I invite you to ride whatever you are most comfortable with though. A mini can be made from usually a child’s size frame. These frames can be had cheaply at yard sales, swap meets, thrift stores, etc....
Make sure your bike is fit appropriate and has good breaks!
Also advised is a good front light and red tail light, (some of the sections are dark and you'll want to be visible).
Clothing advised is:
Some sections of this run are steep and curve sharply, also not well lit. Be advised that there are some risks involved and that you may crash. In the event of a crash, following what has been advised above will greatly reduce the chance of injury I hope to get people there and interested in doing this weekly. Thanks!
