Andrew Tillinghast has been working with glass for over 27 years. He began working with leaded and stained glass and continues to make custom windows, skylights, doorways and more. When he isn't creating beautiful works of glass art, he loves sailing on his 23 foot sailboat, Free at Last.

Today his vast array of talents can be demonstrated in his jewelry, glass weavings, and wall art.

Over the past few years he has developed his interests in the warm glass art. The term warm glass refers to fusing, slumping, and other glass processes which take place at temperatures between 1100 and 1700 degrees Fahrenheit (600 to 925 Celcius). That sounds a bit more than "warm," but it is less heat than is used with glass-blowing which uses temperatures above 2000 degrees Farenheit. Unique dichroic jewelry and woven glass bowls capture his imagination. Each of Andrew's jewelry pieces are unique and one of a kind. He also creates unique glass woven bowls and wall pieces.

The raw materials that are used to create the glass works come from all around the world. Much of the glass that is used by the studio is a hand rolled variety made as close as Portland, Oregon while other glass sheets are imported from as far away as Germany. "Since light brings such life to glass as it changes throughout the day, we will often study the range of color that different types of glass offer before deciding which variety will be used within a design. After all, our work must have more than just structural integrity It also needs to have a timeless beauty," says Andrew.
